B CORP POLICIES
We're a certified B Corp, which means Serious Pig is governed by a set of values we have voluntarily agreed to uphold. These values are practised through the set of policies you'll find here, all of which have been signed off and regularly reviewed by our board.

Our purpose
At Serious Pig we want to make better savoury snacks, and prove they don't need to come wrapped in new plastic.
For decades, snacks have been sold in packets made from new plastic that ends up in landfill and doesn't biodegrade. This is the biggest negative environmental impact our business has, so it's where we can do the most good. We're working on changing our packaging, which involves testing new paper based materials that have never been used before, to prove that there are solutions to this crisis. Progress may come all at once, or more slowly, we are as yet unsure as paper based packaging solutions are still in their infancy. Each of our products will require its own purpose built material and testing period, but we are committed to transitioning the entire range to these breakthrough materials as quickly as possible.
How we measure it:
- Less new plastic, every year. We'll cut the total amount of virgin plastic we use every year from our 2026 baseline, even as the business grows, with a first target of 20% less by 2028.
- Kerbside recyclable by 2030. Every piece of packaging we produce will be kerbside recyclable by 2030. From January to June 2026, 63% of our snack packs by weight were kerbside recyclable.
- No good food wasted. Our surplus stock goes to City Harvest to feed Londoners in need, rather than in the bin. In 2025 that was 3 tonnes.
We'll report progress against all three in our Impact Report, published on the About Us page of our website.
Raising a concern
If you think we've fallen short on how we treat people, suppliers, communities or the planet, we want to hear about it. Anyone can raise a concern: customers, our team, suppliers, neighbours, or anyone else affected by what we do.
How to raise it: email complaints@seriouspig.co.uk. Tell us what happened, when, and who or what it affects. You don't have to give your name.
What we'll cover: any concern about our social, environmental or ethical conduct, including how we treat our team or suppliers, conditions in our supply chain, animal welfare, our environmental impact, the accuracy of anything we claim in our marketing, or any breach of the policies on this page.
What this isn't for: problems with an order or a product. Those go to orders@seriouspig.co.uk.
What happens next:
- We'll acknowledge your concern within 5 working days.
- Ryan McCann will look into it. He may contact you for more detail.
- We aim to tell you the outcome, and what we're doing about it, within 20 working days. If it takes longer, we'll update you at least every 10 working days until it's resolved.
- If we decide it isn't something this process covers, we'll tell you why, and point you to where it can be dealt with.
- If you're not happy with how we handled it, you can ask for it to be reviewed by a director, George Rice, our founder.
No comeback: nobody will be treated unfairly for raising a concern in good faith, whether or not it turns out to be upheld. For our team, retaliation against anyone who raises a concern is gross misconduct. For suppliers, raising a concern will never affect how we work with you. If you're worried about being identified, you can raise a concern anonymously, and we'll protect your identity as far as the law allows.
Keeping track: we log every concern we receive, what we did about it and how it was resolved, and our board reviews a summary every year.
Human rights
Serious Pig is committed to respecting human rights, in our own business and throughout our supply chain. We commit to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Bill of Human Rights, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
In our own business, that means:
- Everyone who works for us is paid at least the real Living Wage. We're an accredited Living Wage Employer.
- Everyone has a written contract setting out their pay, hours and rights.
- Everyone is free to join a trade union and to be represented at work.
- We don't tolerate discrimination, harassment or bullying of any kind.
- Everyone has a safe way to raise a concern, including anonymously.
In our supply chain, that means:
- Our suppliers sign our Supplier Code of Conduct, which holds them to the same standards, including no forced, bonded or child labour.
- We check our most important suppliers' human rights practices every year, using independent audits such as Sedex where they're available, and our own supplier questionnaire.
- If we find a problem, we work with the supplier to fix it. If they won't, we stop working with them.
If you have a human rights concern about us or anyone we work with, please raise it here.
Lobbying and political activity
Serious Pig does not lobby government, and does not make donations to political parties, politicians or political campaigns, either directly or through anyone else.
If that ever changes, we'll publish a full responsible lobbying policy here first, setting out that we'll only lobby for a positive impact on people and the planet, based on reliable evidence.
If you think we've done anything that contradicts this, please raise a concern.
Climate action plan
Serious Pig supports the global goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C, and our climate action plan sets out how we'll play our part.
Our own operations: our site in Slough runs on 100% renewable electricity. We'll keep it that way every year, and we're looking at generating our own power on site.
Our supply chain: most of our carbon footprint isn't in our building, it's in what we buy - the ingredients, packaging and deliveries that go into every pack. That's where our targets focus:
- Packaging: cut the total amount of virgin plastic we use by 20% by 2028, against our 2026 baseline.
- Suppliers: by the end of 2027, ask each of our main suppliers for their carbon footprint and climate plan, and use what we learn to set our next reduction targets.
How we'll get there: the full plan sets out who is responsible, the resources behind each target, and how we'll work with our suppliers and team to deliver it. We'll update it at least every three years and report progress every year.
